Enter the duty start time to see the maximum FDP.
For planning only. An operator's approved rules may be stricter. Not for split duty, in-flight rest, extensions or crew not acclimatised.
Quick reference
EASA, 1–2 sectors: 13:00 for a start between 06:00 and 13:29 local, stepping down to 11:00 for starts from 17:00 to 04:59; 30 minutes less for each sector from the third, never below 9:00. FAA Part 117: 14 hours for a 07:00–11:59 start with 1–2 segments, 9 hours for starts between midnight and 03:59.
Frequently asked questions
›Which rules does it use?
EASA ORO.FTL.205(b)(1), table 2, for acclimatised crew, and FAA 14 CFR Part 117 table B for unaugmented operations. ICAO Annex 6 asks each state to set its own limits, so these two public schemes are shown side by side.
›How do sectors change the EASA limit?
The table gives the limit for 1 or 2 sectors by the local start time (13:00 for a start between 06:00 and 13:29). From the third sector on, each sector takes 30 minutes off, down to a minimum of 9:00.
›What isn't included?
Extensions, split duty, in-flight rest (augmented crew), unknown acclimatisation state and standby. An operator's approved rules may also be stricter. This is for planning, not a legal limit for your flight.
