Take-off speeds

9 min read

The speeds

V_EF: the speed at which the critical engine is assumed to fail, not less than V_MCG.

V1: the decision speed: the maximum speed at which the pilot can start the first action to stop within the accelerate-stop distance available, and the minimum speed at which, after an engine failure at V_EF, the take-off can be continued to reach the screen height within the take-off distance available.

V_R: rotation speed. V2: the take-off safety speed, reached by the screen height with one engine inoperative.
