Take-off distances and what changes them

9 min read

Distances

Take-off distance: the greater of the distance to reach 35 ft with an engine failure at V_EF, and 115 % of the all-engines distance to 35 ft (dry runway). On a wet runway it is the greater of the dry take-off distance and the one-engine-out distance to 15 ft on the wet surface.

Accelerate-stop distance: accelerate, an engine failure, decide at V1 and stop: the greater of the engine-out and all-engines cases, plus 2 seconds at V1.

The required distances must fit within TODA, ASDA and TORA.
