The take-off climb segments

9 min read

Climb gradient

Gradient ≈ (thrust − drag) / weight: the excess thrust decides how steeply you can climb. Losing one of two engines removes half the thrust but most of the climb gradient.

IN THIS LESSON

  • The segments (engine failed, gross gradients for a twin)
  • Obstacles
