Moving, adding and removing mass

8 min read

Moving a mass

Moving a mass inside the aircraft keeps the total mass the same but moves the CG:

CG shift = mass moved × distance moved / total mass

Example: aircraft 60,000 kg; 600 kg of cargo moved 10 m forward: shift = 600 × 10 / 60,000 = 0.1 m forward.
